Deep River Ti Chi

What, Where & When We Teach
Our teaching is based on over 40 years of experience and is focused on the PRINCIPLES and foundations of tai chi. Each of our classes start with a set of qigong movements where we emphasize using the tai chi principles to enhance one's health, learn how to physically and mentally relax, to move with grace and balance, and to have power without tensing any muscles. Once a students grasp the fundamentals, they can begin learning the tai chi form. Because our teaching is focused on the basics and principles of tai chi, what we teach is applicable to any style of tai chi. Students who have shown a level of proficiency and understanding and want to go further, can learn push hands and sword, and even bagua.
Tai chi and bagua are known as "internal arts", meaning that movements and power are generated from within the body rather than using muscular force. Most tai chi that is done today is only
the external movements of tai chi, lacking in the internal aspects and devoid of the essential principles that make tai chi what it is. Whereas some health spas or martial arts schools teach tai chi as an adjunct to their main business, we only teach tai chi, and with over 40 years experience, our knowledge and skills are far deeper than what is generally available. We work with student of all styles of tai chi such as Yang, Chen, Wu or Sun. We also work with other martial arts, e.g. karate and kung fu by developing their internal skills to take them to higher levels. We can do the same for you.
